The mystery in the Woods
 That past year I woke up to my alarm clock at seven o'clock ready for my first official training day! I rise from my bed running to my closet. As I opened my closet my officer uniform was right in front of me. I threw it on, got ready for the big day waiting for me. I made myself breakfast. Milo….YUM!! After that I grabbed my bag and rushed out the door with excitement.
I was excited all the way to the station and when I got through the door my boss was waiting for me, Detective Loto Vaimagalo. She greeted me as I walked through and asked me if I was ready for my first day. There were lots of things waiting for me today. Firstly I had to do some measuring and weighing. And then after that we did some serious training. This year is quite different. I am now a full REAL chief officer that doesn't need training although sometimes us officers do need some help.
That day I finished work. A few moments later I was snoring in my bed at home...thats what I did when I was bored. Zzzzzzzz….. The next morning was okay. I was at home having breakfast when I got a phone call from my boss. She wanted me to meet her at the station as soon as possible. I jumped out of my seat leaving my breakfast on the table, pushed my bedroom door wide open, ran to my closet and threw my police uniform on. Then I raced out the front door to the car and drove away.
I finally arrived but nobody was there...but then I looked out the back of the station where my boss, and two officers were jumping into police vehicles, they didn’t even see me! But before I could even speak about what was going on they were in the vehicles and gone.
That same day I was very confused driving home. It was about nine o’clock pm now What was wrong?? Where could they have gone?? How long are they gonna be gone for?? I had many questions! Just then...I thought that I could go find them. Why would my boss call me if she didn’t need anything?? I was still confused, I turned right down Woodlands Road. I don’t know why I’d be going down this way it was very random buttttt….As I got closer to a sign I realized I was in Woodland. The town where my mum and dad were killed OR went missing...nobody ever knew and they haven’t solved this case YET. I keep going forward until…I reach The Woods where my parents were killed. I stopped the car quickly. I reached my left hand into my handbag and took my flashlight out. I opened the driver's seat door and stepped lightly on the concrete. The last time I saw this place was different. There was police tape and cones around the front of the woods. They were asking for nobody to go in there. Now it looked completely empty, While I was standing on the side of the road I was thinking??......I wanted to go explore the woods. I took a slow step forward and then I got faster.
Soon enough I was in the woods nearly in the middle. I guess these woods were very big and easy to get lost in but it felt small. I saw a mysterious looking tree. It had dry blood on the branches and at the bottom of the tree so I shined my flashlight at it. There was a note on the dirt in front of it. It said “PMUD Was this a code? I loved solving codes! I sat there in front of the oak tree trying to figure out this code, I tried PMUD but it didn’t work..but then!! I thought of the old dump nearby the woods it was around ten minutes away. Then I tried DUMP and It actually spelt a word. So that must mean it worked!
I grabbed my torch and the note and RANNNNN down the path that I came from. When I got out of the woods I quickly ran across the road and jumped in my car. Did I not mention that I didn’t lock my car?? Oh well!! “Lets drive to the dump straight away,” I said to myself. Since nobody was around I was speeding. I was actually there in under eight minutes that’s how fast I was going! Zooommm!!!
I reached the dump and was going so FAST that I nearly crashed into the fence but luckily I braked but ended up parking on the footpath. I pushed open the door and quickly ran up to the gate. It was locked. SERIOUSLY?! I ran back to the car that was only at the back of me and grabbed out a long piece of wire in my handbag. I ran back to the gate with my car door half open, put the wire through and tried picking at the lock. I had to keep trying even though I couldn’t get it but...I didn't give up even though it was hard. I pulled the wire out through the fence and bent it a little and then stuck it through the wire fence again and tried picking at the lock again. I felt a little hole while I was picking at the lock, I pushed the wire in. The wire banged on the lock and then the gate slowly slid open with a cranky sound. I pushed it forward quickly trying not to hear the cranky noise.
I slowly took a step forward. This dump wasn’t just any dump it was abandoned years ago - perhaps even before I was even thought of. I had never been here before. I only knew the location because of my old classmates at college, everyone talked about it because it was haunted. They haven't solved this case yet either. I started walking faster and faster every step. When I looked around the place all I could see was a long stream and lots of rubbish bags spreaded across and piled on top of each other. I turned my torch on and waved it around me making sure there was nothing I had to spend hours looking at. I was walking around a corner and I spotted a medium sized door stuck on a wall of stone. I tiptoed close to it and spotted a big panel looking thing on the side of the door. I wanted to try it out so I pulled it down with all my strength but somehow the panel could speak! “Access denied” It called back.
Just then I searched the ground with my torch...I couldn’t find anything looking suspicious. I closed my eyes and opened them again and I could see a small stone lump with a screen with big bold dots on it?? I crouched down looking at the dots...hmmm...could this be a code? Me being my weird self I just typed in the exact same dots as the screen and somehow it worked?? Wow….how could someone crack a code so easily?? I could obviously!! Maybe that was my power?  I pulled down the panel, well the lever on the panel once again and the door opened with me. Out in front of me laid a lonnnggg black hallway, you couldn’t really see anything with the help of a torch either!!
I moved on from the start of the hallway to the middle. I was startled to hear the sound of footsteps running down from the end of the hallway towards me. I couldn’t see anything!! Uh oh! What do I do? Where do I go? It was too late…..
It was a new day. Wait?? Where am I? I thought as I opened my eyes in a dark rusty place. I couldn’t remember anything I looked around and saw that I was in a cell. I stood up slowly...as I tried to get a close look of where I was. “I think I’m still in the dark hallway? I tried pushing the door but it wouldn’t work. I sat against the cell door in silence. Alone.
Later I woke up, I must have fallen asleep it was still silent and dark just then I remembered something..I didn’t even take a look around this place. I stood up once again and turned on my sharp eyesight. I looked carefully at this metal box I found sitting beside a bed. I slowly walked close to it making sure this wasn’t a trap. I pulled the box slowly and opened it..there I found a small silver key, I couldn’t find anything to use it on but then I went back to the cell door. I saw a lock. It wasn’t huge but it looked perfect for this key to fit. I squeezed my hand through a gap, put in the key and turned it right. I took the key out and put it in my side pocket. I tried pushing the door again but this time it worked!
Thanks to they key I was free of this horrifying place. I peeked around to make sure everything was safe and then I made a run for it. I keep on running, faster than ever. I came to a corner I ran straight down until I reached the door that I had come across earlier (I think or maybe that was yesterday?) I pushed the door so hard that the bottom wood cracked. I raced out looking around I was still at the dump.
I continued running out the wire gate and into my car. I slammed the door beside me and started up the car. Five minutes later I was driving at normal speed. I looked at my dashboard to find my glasses. The only thing that was there was a blue sticky note and my own notebook. I pulled it off and stopped the car. In tidy ink writing the note read: I have a surprise waiting for you at home!
I turned the car back on and drove away thinking I really want to see what this “surprise” was. I was a bit frightened about this note getting in my car and also that someone must be in my house! I finally arrived home pleased but at the time also not. I opened up the car door and closed it gently leaving no noises. I walked up the pathway and slowly opened my door the place looked just how I left it. Just then I thought about all of the weird stuff that had happened to me this week. Like all of my fellow officers looking suspicious, I found lots of codes and I got captured! I’m sure this wasn’t any dream or fairytale, It was real life. Then I remembered about the note saying there was a surprise waiting for me.
I looked all over the house like I was playing hide n seek. First I looked in the bathroom, kitchen, lounge and then my bedroom..there I found a note on my desk.. It read: Your surprise is waiting somewhere where you sleep. The first thing that came into my mind was my bed. I turned on my sharp eyesight and searched under my bed for this “surprise” all I found was a silver box with a lock on it. I pushed myself under the bed and reached out for the metal box. I got a hold of it and pulled myself out again. I remember finding that silver key in the cell. I think I still have it in my side pockets. I searched in my side pockets for the key and I felt something hard like metal. It was the key. I grabbed it out and unlocked the silver metal box. Inside was another blue sticky note stuck to the bottom of the box. I was about to read it but recognized it was blank. I was confused..why would someone make me unlock a metal box with a blank note in it? It’s kind of been an adventure since I have been to the station I thought. Maybe I could go check if anyone is there or still there.
Seconds passed. I’m in my car driving to the Acre City Police Station. I wished I lived in the city. I  saw a creature lurking around a dark building at the car boarding place.  And this was weird just then I ran past a mysterious person leaving in a black Holden.  I managed to see their number plate. It was UMDP just like the code in the woods. Could this mean something? But then I thought..why would nobody find that clue in the woods for about eight years? Or maybe it could be a new clue that they have just left. I grabbed my notebook that was on my dashboard and stopped the car and turned to the back I write PMUD in the middle of the page then shut the book and placed it down on the dashboard again.
I started the car up again and drove off, the person was gone by then. I was still sticking to my plan to go to the station so I keep on going until I reached the station. The front carpark was empty - that’s usually where all the visitors park. I pulled into the front carpark and drove to the back carpark where us officers park. I spotted one red police car that was my bosses so I pulled up beside it and rushed into the station. I unlocked the door and it was completely silent. It wasn’t dark though just then I heard a noise it was my boss Loto saying, “Hello. How may I help you?” I walked to the reception and she was talking to a person that I had seen before. Hmmm.. I looked out the clear glass door and I saw that grey Holden with the number plate PMUD. He also had a hoodie on. But something was weird they were staring at me like we knew each other I managed to get the look on their face. They looked like a girl and they looked like they liked hiding their face from people. My boss seems to know this face too. I took another hard look she looked like DETECTIVE PAIGE! I walked up to her not slowly and pulled off her hoodie she looked mad at me and quickly put her hoodie back on. She had brown hair like Detective Paige and had the same looks! Detective Paige didn’t have an identical twin or any siblings. My boss yelled “Lauren! What are you doing to this innocent visitor?!” “She is guilty!!”
I shouted. “Do you know about my missing parents eight years ago?” “This lady DETECTIVE PAIGE” “Wait what? Paige is this really you?” my boss said in shock.“Who is Paige?” Said PAIGE.“Lift off her hoodie NOW!” I shouted again I couldn’t relax.My boss asked Paige calmly if this was her. She admitted it and took off her hoodie.In an evil voice Paige shouted “Do you know that grey car over there? The number plate? Have you been in the woods? I HAVE” I shouted, “I found this tree and at the bottom of it was a code PMUD and It was DUMP!”Paige said in a calm evil voice, “That thing you saw isn’t a code its the last place your parents were when I killed them.” My boss was angry. She called the security and told them to take her to the cell and said her words to Paige “We got some serious business to solve and in that case you're fired!”Paige had shown us a face like she was innocent and she shouted “PLEASE I BEG YOU.” After that I was quiet but inside I was very angry. My boss wanted to talk to her about why I did that instead of just asking her. I couldn’t help but to solve my parents missing case. I walked down the hallway of the station. It was quiet and empty apart from Paige hanging in the darkest, dirtiest cell of all. I walked all the way to the back door where my car was. I jumped in my car and started the engine then I drove away. What a horrible day. Just then I saw a towing truck with Paige’s car on it. I think they are going to take it to the car boarding place beside THE WOODS? Instead of day-dreaming I raced all the way to the woods in this rustic car.
I finally reached this dark place I pulled in and parked my car in the middle of the carpark not caring. I pushed the door open the truck was parked in a parking but Paige's car was in the shed. He was using this remote to close the shed, put the remote on a desk in the shed and then walked away. I ran as fast as I could into the shed it was closing I was alone in a dark place but lucky this time there was a remote in the shed so I could be free without hard work. I heard a little moan at the back of the barrels. I slowly pulled away the barrel to find a cute little brown and white puppy hiding there shivering. Immediately the pup put its paws on me so I picked it up. I was guessing since it’s collar was blue it was a boy and on its collar it said ‘Max’ so I decided to keep him. I picked up the remote and pressed the power button and ran out with my new puppy to my car. I was starting to be happy and drove away..TWO YEARS LATER..I am now twenty-one and live with my cute puppy. He was now three years old and has a friend that’s the same breed as him but is a girl! My boss set him up to be a police puppy! Now we get to work together and I didn’t have to leave him home everyday. I let my thoughts pass about my mum and dad and on their birthdays I go outside and lay on the grass with my puppys. I am now a Chief Inspector for solving the most popular crime that hadn’t been solved for eight years!

Athletics!!

On 5/11/18 we did athletics! Most of us were on the Ngatea domain and some younger students where on our school field. I had lots of running races like the 200 metres, 800 metres, 60 metres and 100 metres. I also did long jump and shotput. The best thing I did was shotput but my favourite thing was long jump.  I didn't participate in the high jump but I think athletics was very fun this year.

On the 31/10/18 we did some fingerprinting for our CSI! I compared my fingerprints to other fingerprints and found out that I had whorls and loops but more loops.

                                                                       Me and Owens fingerprints are a bit different because he has loops and I have loops and whorls. But one thing that is the same is that his loops are in the middle and so are mine!  

Why are fingerprints important in an investigation??

Fingerprints are important in police investigation because they need to gather evidence by seeing fingerprints. They can see if they have used any objects or surfaces. Also fingerprints can be used for DNA testing. They can try match the fingerprints of a suspect or of another person.

Whetu Police appeal for information

There has been a crime committed on Sunday 14th October 2018 at Ngatea Primary School, in one of the Whetu learning spaces around about 4:20 pm. If you have seen any vehicles or people that look suspicious at the Ngatea School car park, around Orchard West Rd, the car park beside Ngatea Pools,  around the domain area or down Paul’s drive we would like to know. If you know anything about any sightings of anyone leaving school suspiciously please let us know. As we are helping the police solve this crime. Loto’s Term 3 Reflection

How my term has gone…

This term in Whetu has been great getting to know everyone and getting to connect with everyone. It was also nice getting to know the Teachers more and learning new things everyday!! This term it was also nice learning marimbas with Mrs Fraser and doing rotations. Each teacher ran a rotation and we did different things in each one. What I enjoyed the most… This term I have enjoyed art the most because we get to be really creative with what we do. I also enjoyed it the most because we get to collaborate with people that we never talk to and create something awesome. My best achievement……This term I have archived most of my writing goals. I can use metaphors and now have a more exciting and more detailed piece of writing. What should we do more next term?...I think that we should do more writing next term. I think that we should write more stories. I think we should do this next year because I want to write more and share it with the class One thing I would change! I would only change the volume here in Whetu but apart from that I wouldn’t change anything because I enjoy the way in Whetu!

Loto's Calendar Art!!

This is my Calendar Art!!! The first steps we did were practising our designs with a light pencil. The teachers also gave us our photos that they took for our calendar art. We got a couple of options to choose from.  I chose a very bright and colourful theme for my art. Everyone got creative and thought of what they wanted to do for theirs. I used Creativity while doing this because I had to think of how it will appear when people see it. I hope you enjoy my Calendar Art!! The hardest part was colouring inside the lines because I had to stay in the lines. The easiest thing was creating the patterns because I already had the idea!

Loto's Chapter Chat Round Up!!!

Chapter chat this term has gone very well! The book Little House on the Prairie was very interesting at some times. My thought of this story was that it was a very nice book and it also told me things that I didn't know like how they dress in the 1800's! One challenge that the Ingalls faced where being sick all day and night. It was very hard when all of them were sick because they needed things but everyone couldn't get up until some help came. This book also left me on a cliffhanger because we didn't get to know if anything special happened so I didn't really like the ending of Little House on the Prairie.

Loto's Cross Country reflect!!

This is my Cross Country reflect!! I had lots of fun creating something for this week's blog!! I have inserted some pictures of what I have done for this week's blog! Beside the pictures will tell you what they are and what about them.

I had lots of fun at Cross Country and the hardest thing to do was running because you had to run up hills and go through the creek. But best of all was running in the mud!! It was a bit muddy going through but I will try my best for next Cross Country!

I have enjoyed Chapter Chat a lot in Whetu because I like getting challenges to complete a task
and learning more about reading.

I would like to see more of dear in Whetu because I like silent reading and nobody distracts me.

My favorite day would be fridays because I like going on twitter to answer the Chapter Chat questions.

Top Outdoor Spot!

My top spot is Hamilton Gardens in Hamilton because there are lots of pretty flowers and sights to see. The reason why this is my favourite outdoor spot is because its a very relaxing and beautiful place. It has a swimming pool and the first time I went there was for my little sisters birthday. My favourite part is where the water fountain is because it looks very blue and clear it’s close to tunnels.

•  What is rain? Rain is liquid water in the form of droplets. Rain can become heavy enough to fall under gravity what makes rain heavy is because of the moisture  moving along three-dimensional zones of temperature and moisture known as weather fronts.
• What makes us hear the rain? How do we hear the rain is because as more rain drops it makes the sound of rain louder.
• How is rain caused? When water on earth is heated by the sun it turns into water vapor and rises into the sky to form rain.

I have tried Inside play and Family play I always get to connect with lots of people I don't usually connect with. The learning power that I mostly use would be Creativity because in Power Play you get to be creative with your ideas. I think that what we have in Power Play is enough things to play with.
